Quick Story: If we travel back a decade ago when we first started coaching, we made a ton of mistakes, one of the huge mistakes was not staying in our lanes to serve our clients more.

We would try to be personal trainers, try to be bodybuilding coaches, try to be powerlifting coaches, and try to be online fitness coaches, all at the same time.

We were in so many lanes and trying to wear so many different hats that we were selling our clients short and not doubling down on a couple of areas we truly loved and were dominant at.

In today’s society, specifically, the coaching industry, a lot of coaches want to wear different hats and coach in different areas of expertise.

A question we like to ask our Dynamic Inner Circle students is:

“Do you think Phil Jackson would have played Shaq at point guard during the Lakers title runs?”

The answer is, No, he kept Shaq in his lane, at center, and he dominated for years and brought the Lakers multiple championships.

In todays society, if we use a fitness example, you see coaches trying to go online, be personal trainers, be life coaches, be cross fit coaches, body building coaches, etc.

If we use a business example, you see coaches trying to be marketing coaches, sales coaches, branding coaches, ecommerce coaches, speaking coaches, etc.

The problem with this is its too all over the place, too many hats being worn, and not enough focus on a couple of areas of expertise to focus on.

In this new podcast episode, we dive into the importance of staying in your lane as a coach and some practical ways to do this.

Here’s what you will learn in our NEW Podcast Episode:

  • Practical ways to stay in your lane as a coach and become dominant in those specific areas
  • How to hone in on a specific area, use deliberate practice to get better, build relationships with clients, exceed their expectations, and get them more results
  • The coaching freeway analogy. Think of a big freeway that has 2-3 lanes within it and pick 2-3 areas to stay in that specific freeway. The freeway is coaching, and the lanes (specific areas) are something that you specialize in and have a love for within coaching
